Useful movement
Interest → selection → concentration → investigation → understanding → containment → release.
Research note · working model
Attraction begins before attachment. Something becomes noticeable, interesting, promising, important, dangerous, beautiful, or useful. Attention moves toward it, and the person responds.
A useful first distinction is simple: an initial pull is not the same as what develops after repeated attention and investment.
Working sequence: salience → attraction → movement of attention → investment → attachment or release.
Five may record a particularly selective form of attraction: the magnetic pull of interest. A subject appears worth understanding. Attention narrows around it.
Interest → selection → concentration → investigation → understanding → containment → release.
Capture → grasping → withholding → over-retention → nonparticipation → difficulty releasing.
This connects with older meanings around avarice—craving, grasping, holding, retaining, and protecting access—without reducing Five to ordinary material greed.
This map is provisional: One—discrepancy and correction; Two—people and need; Three—goals and visible progress; Four—meaningful difference; Five—interest and hidden structure; Six—uncertainty and possible danger; Seven—possibility and relief; Eight—obstruction and protection; Nine—the whole atmosphere and continuity.
Magnetism is used here as an explanatory image for a pull of attention. This page does not claim that psychological attraction is literal electromagnetism.
