Language research toolFollow one passion word from ordinary and historical meaning through Enneagram transmission and current Vecnine interpretation.
Language & meaning
A word can preserve an archetype— and compress it.
The nine passion words already name real human phenomena. This explorer follows each word from source language and ordinary meaning through inherited Enneagram use, modern narrowing, and Vecnine’s current attempt to recover the larger psychological pattern the word may be pointing to.
Separate word history from psychological synthesis
A passion word may preserve an older semantic field, narrow it, or acquire a specialized teaching use. Those layers should be shown rather than blended.
01Attested form
Begin with the actual source-language form and the period or text in which it appears.
02Semantic field
Map literal senses and historically supported neighbors without reverse-engineering the desired type.
03Teaching use
Show how an Enneagram author or tradition applies the word psychologically.
04Vecnine synthesis
State the operational interpretation as a revisable synthesis, not as hidden dictionary meaning.
BoundaryEtymology can clarify a concept and expose translation loss. It cannot prove an archetype, a birthdate mapping, or a causal mechanism.

Continue the study
Language shows where a teaching portrait became narrower than the living pattern.
Use the type pages for accessible orientation, the Codex for the full archetypal record, and Nine Paths to see how the same operation changes across different human domains.
Save the exact input, rule, and output. Write one observation the result predicts, one plausible alternative, and one piece of counterevidence. The instrument becomes useful when its misses remain as visible as its matches.

Continue to Living Figures
Move to the next instrument only when it answers a different question; do not combine outputs merely because they share a date or number.
